What should you do if you receive a CCJ?

If you do receive a CCJ and you do owe the money, the first consideration should be to pay the debt in full within 28 days of the issue of the CCJ. By doing this you would avoid having a CCJ registered against you.

You may also dispute the claim in full if you do not owe the money, dispute some of it if you do not agree with the balance or pay in instalments if you owe the money but cannot afford to pay the debt in full.

If you are on a plan with DFH and you owe the claim amount, we will liaise with the creditor on your behalf, helping you to complete your form correctly in time and make sure that all the necessary follow-up is done for you.
